I love RJG's books, this one didn't even feel necessary. There didn't seem to be any major climax and it was similar to reading a Facebook status of someone's day. I'm a huge RGJ fan, have been for several years and feel so let down. I waited all this time and was hoping for a spectacular ending to this meh series and it didn't go out with a bang. At. All. Just kind of faded out. Christy comes off as self-centered, unrealistic and boring. There are so many more characters (Jessica, Katie or Terri, Hello!) that I would love to catch up with rather than having the same story repeated in almost 3 books: Christy and Todd are busy. Christy feels overwhelmed They live in a perfect, dream beach house that belongs to her uncle and aunt. Everything always works out perfectly with a ribbon and a bow. I didn't feel like this series even ended because it felt stuck to begin with. The only thing I enjoyed were the insightful mom encouragements, those were wonderful which is why I rated this as 2 stars. I'm so sad about this series and believe it's a good time to take a break from RJG's books for a while. :*(
In Sunset Lullaby, Robin Jones Gunn continues to tell the story of her beloved characters, Christy and Todd. Now parents of two very small children, balancing parenting, marriage, work, ministry, and friendships has become so complicated and taxing. But Christy and Todd step up to the challenges in ways so fitting with their characters. I love how Robin wrote this book so accurately conveying the struggles in these baby years and how she infuses the story with hope and purpose. This is not a book to miss! I am a longtime fan of Robin Jones Gunn and have been reading her books for over two decades. I hope this is not the last we hear from these wonderful characters.
I waited for the book to come out as many fans. The one thing I was hoping for is to see Christy the character more humble. Instead life revolved around her needs and outcomes. Everyone has to come to her aid and very seldom does she return the kindness. I will keep reading in hopes she has that epiphany.
I have been friends with Christy since I was 12(I'm 27 now). I have read and reread every book. Recently it seems like someone else is writing the newest books though. All of the typos are fine with me but the story was lacking.
A great ending to a wonderful series. I really enjoy returning to Todd and Christy's life. It is like returning to my high school friends and seeing where their life has gone since high school. I enjoy that Robin Jones Gunn actually dives into the struggles an early mother with two kids feel like and shows the realistic struggles of a young marriage. Marriage is A LOT of work but have patience and trust in God. The marriage will last. I highly recommend Sunset Lullaby to fans of Christy and Todd and younger adults.
Oh! Mrs Robin, you have done it again! This book, probably more than any of the others, hit me in the gut! I cried, I laughed, I cried some more. These characters are truest like forever friends to me and I am in exactly the place Christy is in in this book. Trying to find herself and her purpose as a stay at home mom. Thank you for making these characters come to life!
Robin jones gunn christy miller, the college years, katie weldom, Todd and Christy years and the baby years has gotten me through all of my struggles, doubts and fears. I feel so much peace from these series and I wouldn't change a thing in yhis last book. I was quite surprise at the end of these book that i cried out for joy, FINALLY!!! You will truly love these series they will grab you by the heart and never let go. I hope you all can enjoy these series and learn so much from Christy and Todd as they have taught me through the years. Best book to read on christmas break.
I have been friends with Christy since I was in high school and I've followed her till she's become a mom and so have I. I was encouraged in my mothering in this book and to see aunt Marti finally come to know Jesus! I'm so excited! I don't know if there with be more books but Robin thank you for the stories that have carried me through high school, college, marriage, and motherhood.
