This book is huge, full of information and sketches. As a professional I had hoped it make a great addition to my library, but it seems to be more suited to beginners or enthusiasts. NOT SAYING THAT"S A BAD THING. My biggest complaint is that the book is printed on gray midtone paper and lacks overall highlights to ease readability. Imagine it's all printed on darker newsprint.Better books out there, especially for this price. ($46 at time of writing)
As an artist and animal lover, I must say i LOVE this book!Why:-Nice design and cover - with gold accents and drawings by my favorite artist "Eleeza"!- a lot of animals/creatures, its a hefty book (300 pages)- it smells good like a printed book haha :)-I really like the way they lead out all the processes each artist took, its rare for artists of this skill level to so openly pull back the curtain-I feel more confident about myself as an artist and feel like "yeah i can do that too!" (sometimes i see finished work and wonder how they got there but not with this book! :))- They have a lot of interesting creatures that i've never heard of- Its definitely a focus on the process, the final illustrations are colored version of the final lineart - so if you want a glossy book of only finished illustrations just keep that in mind.
VERY lovely book filled with a lot of amazing creatures. As someone who loves drawing and making up new creatures, this book was a definite go-to for me and I recommend it for other artists and anyone who loves fantasy creatures
I love this book, I really enjoyed how they explain their idea process step by step as well as for the sketching concepts. This book is very informative and breaks things down to make it easier for you to be your own artist and be creative. This was the exact guidance I was looking for especially because I really love this style of art.
I recommend this book for people who like a little mix of everything. The monsters draw from actual lore from around the world, but each illustration shows the artists’ process and the liberties they took with what they were given. A great book for illustration students, teachers, and people who like mythical beasts!

What a fantastic book. I purchased this from the 3d Total website as a gift for my husband, who really enjoys creating creatures that are rooted in reality but fantastical and imaginative. My son ended up deeply enjoying the book as well because it's a book that can be used by beginners as well as professionals. I was shocked to see the print quality and the amount of detail that went into each and every creature! Not only that, but the cover is incredibly well made (it is a heavy, high-quality product which can definitely be given as a gift to artists and creature-lovers). There are so many books on the market the advertise interesting creatures but are poorly drawn or poorly printed.I had a look in the book and fell in love with it too, it's such a fascinating read for art-enthusiasts as well. My two favorite animals in the book are the Phoenix by an artist named Nityanshu (so colorful and beautifully drawn!) and the Boggart by an artist named Cosmin Podar (such an interesting character and so well-written). The book also comes with a really cool deck of cards that comes with the instructions for a fun game - another reason why this book would make a lovely gift for artists and creature-lovers. I definitely know I'll be repurchasing a few copies of this beautiful book for Christmas!
