As usual, Wayne has produced another edge of the seat thriller. However, from my perspective, the book was a little " long on character details" and a little short on "knock down, drag 'm out" action...BUT it was a good way to bring Charity back for this tale and leave the door open for her to join future adventures. Personally, I didn't need the AC-DC side issue which was irrelevant to the overall theme...the emphasis could have been placed elsewhere. Read it in two sittings and I'm looking forward to Book 12.

I have read all of the author's prior books and after reading, 'Rising Storm', I have to admit that it's not up to the same level of those earlier stories written by Wayne. This story gathers most of his characters from earlier books and has them working together to uncover some missing emeralds that may or may not have been stolen from a friend of a friend. However, most everyone has only bit parts as compared to Charity and Jesse, who seem to be the main characters here. The perceived thief is quickly located, Jesse and Charity pose as treasure hunters and go undercover in hopes of locating the precious gems. Quite a few pages are dedicated to bisexual lifestyles, wife swapping, and orgies which Charity and Chryl play to the fullest - teasing Jesse non-stop. They soon discover that this couple may have lured others to participant in their orgies then afterward, tortured and killed them, dumping the bodies into the ocean; young women have been reported missing from the Miami and South Beach area.A trap was set and Jesse's team had a plan. However, a sudden storm appears in the Bay en route to their destination and the thief strikes first, incapacitating all the guests on the boat and crushing their plan. Death is just a whisper away...they've all disappeared from the radar and separated from any backup. Is this finally the end for Jesse McDermitt, Charity and Chryl? Still, an okay book to continue the series...just not as engaging as the rest.

The first book was amazing. Didn’t write any reviews between it and this one as I was too busy reading to write and didn’t want to stop. Now stopping is mandatory while I wait for Jesse’s next adventure and am holding onto the hope that there will be one and that it will be out soon!! I wait with bated breath!! I am not an accomplished review writer but I can truly say that this is beyond any doubt the best series I have ever read or probably ever will read. I don’t look for correct grammar and punctuation. I don’t analyze each sentence for some hidden agenda put there by the author. I read for enjoyment, finding that sweet spot that takes me completely out of this world and into the world of the book I am reading and the adventure that lies ahead. And this book put me right there with the first in the series and I am still on the shore of that little island just hanging up the satellite phone after talking with Charity waiting for the next adventure. I hope I don’t have to hold my breath too long. I have done more crying, laughing and just holding my breath during a scene while reading these eleven books than I have the hundreds of books I have read before them!! An excellent series, excellent plots, excellent characters, excellent adventures all of them!! There is no more that can be said except hurry up book 12!!

Wayne Stinnett’s newly-released book, RISING STORM, is a tightly-packed quick-paced adventure in the South Florida/Florida Keys genre which is just an excellent read. Wayne admits to being influenced by John D. MacDonald (as does Randy Wayne White elsewhere) and he has loosely taken the plot of one of John D.’s books for the basis of RISING STORM. Then he includes some characters from other authors of the genre, like John Cunningham’s Buck Reilly and Steven Becker’s Mac Travis. It kind of knits all the books in the genre together. Makes for a comfortable family. If you are a reader of this genre, then this is an absolute must-read. If you are not . . . you should be, and should buy this book. Then you will scurry back to buy all the others in his series. Honestly!DAVID THATCHER WILSON,author of The Ezkeel Books

After reading all of the earlier Jesse McDermitt stories, I felt like I'd arrived home as soon as this book mentioned the Content Keys -- Jesse's island home in the Florida Keys. Then, the storyline unfolded and in came Charity Styles (herself the heroine in another must-read series by Wayne Stinnett), Deuce, Julie, Cheryl and the team ... not to forget Rusty (of Rusty Anchor fame). The nasty buggers in this story are some of the worst I've read about, and it takes quite some planning and action to deal with them. Oh, and there is Aztec Treasure to retrieve ... all the makings of a first class mystery, and idyllically set in the clear, and sometimes stormy, waters of the Keys.I just couldn't put Rising Storm down and read well into the night whenever I picked up my tablet to read this book.

Wayne Stinnett goes back to the drawing board and sketches another great story revolving around his florida Contents island-based protagonist, Jesse McDermitt. This novel is a crossover story with Steven Becker's most recent Mac Travis book, and it's fun to see two integrated story lines, which include some of the same events told through the perspective of the two leading men. All the usual characters are present, and their personalities continue to be drawn in greater descriptive detail. When you read these maritime adventures, you know the leading men will eventually prevail, so there isn't any great suspense about that. But the stories are well told and enjoyable reading, so they are a lot of fun. Full confession: as a fellow boater (though not a trawler or fishing boat owner,) I particularly enjoy reading these books on a quiet night on the water. And I always learn a few technical things with each read. Doing all my boating on the large deep cold-water lakes of northern British Columbia and the Yukon Territory, and more recently in Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage, I am increasingly fascinated by the descriptions of the shallow waters of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, the Content Islands, and the other Carribean islands.
